Special Workshops
Special Interest Expeditions:

The Gerry Martin Project runs special interest experiences where enthusiasts are taken through a multi-location theme-based experience. Participants get a chance to experience a certain aspect of wildlife or the biodiversity of a region through a carefully planned schedule. These programmes use various conservation field stations and these visits help generate the required funds. It also creates a significant amount of awareness about the work and trials of these facilities.

Some of the experiences are:
Herpeto-fauna of the Western Ghats
South Indian Mammals
Indian Crocodile Biology
Reptiles of Peninsular India

These programmes generally are for groups consisting about four to sixteen individuals. Individuals can either register with scheduled programmes or groups may have a programme specifically designed for themselves.

Student groups and college excursions especially benefit greatly from these programmes which not only focus on wildlife but also bring in a strong culture context. All these programmes are designed to make the experience real and firsthand.

Children:

The Gerry Martin Project works with children at various levels. Interventions and experiences range from one day Nature-based workshops just outside Bangalore city to 10-day long expedition style programmes that target specific learning objectives. The learning objectives themselves could range from simple outdoor skills to intensive herpetology and Nature photography.

The faculty consists of experts in the field and individuals who are ardent wildlife enthusiasts and have been working with children on a regular basis in the outdoors.

Below is a list of recurrent workshops for children:
Holiday Nature Camps – The Nature Camps are held in a variety of locations in South India and they offer the children a real experience with Nature. Vastly, these include trekking through forests, wildlife tracking, Nature photography and Nature art. The programme simultaneously forms new experiences for the children, builds their skills and develops a connection to the wild world.
Single Day Nature Workshops – The location for these workshops are on the outskirts of Bangalore, in a farm. Each workshop focuses on a specific aspect of Nature and revolves around birds, insects, reptiles, aquatic life and others. The activities follow a theme and the children are exposed to a combination of presentations and have a direct involvement in the activities.

The children learn relevant skills like building nest boxes, creating pond ecosystems and growing butterfly gardens. Each workshop has a definite skill building motive.
Tailored Workshops – The Gerry Martin Project tailors special experiences that aid the children in streamlining their learning and exposure. These multi-location workshops are designed for group of school students or a group of individuals and range from a day to several days.
Family Workshops – The Gerry Martin Project conducts Nature-based experiences and outings for the entire family from camping to angling. This satisfies their aspiration to get in touch with wilderness, which is not limited to generic resort or safaris. The workshops include all aspects of Nature-based activities such as bird watching, climbing trees, trekking and Nature photography.
